September's monthly meeting was a really enjoyable time. We moved away from (what has become a tradition) having an entertainer and invited Caroline Gallacher to lead us in an "Arts" afternoon. We painted and chatted and exclaimed over each others' work. October's meeting was an intergenerational outing with Benarty Primary School. On our way to Anstruther's Fisheries Museum, we had a singsong in the bus (both groups taking turns in singing their favourite songs). The museum was a really exciting place for the young people as there was lots to explore. For the elderly, it was a place of reminiscence and a chance to exchange memories with each other. Both the elderly and the young people really enjoy their time together. The Christmas outing was a trio of delights. We had an intergenerational day beginning with a bus journey across the Forth to South Queensferry where we stopped for lunch at one of the village's hotels. After being fed and watered we went to the Festival Theatre in the heart of Edinburgh to see a pantomime. Despite the snow everyone had a great time and all arrived home safely if a little later than expected!!

The June meeting was held in the Lochgelly centre. The group was entertained by "Mickey B" who had everyone singing and dancing (or tapping their feet). An excellent afternoon tea was enjoyed by all and there was even enough to supply "doggy bags" to take home.
The August meeeting was a social lunch at the Ferrybridge restaurant in South Queensferry. Everyone enjoyed the bus run across the bridge as it was a beautiful day and the sun was sparkling on the water. A great time was enjoyed by all whith a lovely meal. Our new Volunteers were specifically invited to join the event to allow them to meet each other and all the elderly people involved in the project. |

We continue to expand our intergenerational work and our latest venture on Wednesday 1st July 2009 was a trip to Boness Railway Preservation Society. The elderly involved were part of our Elderly Befriending Project and the young people were pupils from Benarty Primary who have been working with Mark Hutchison our Personal Development Coordinator. All enjoyed lunch and many laughs together and memories of the days of steam were shared with the young people. On the return journey an ice cream stop was a great success with everyone as it was such a hot day!! |

In March the Elderly Befriending Project took a group to the Tipsy Nipper at the airfield in Glenrothes. A lovely lunch was enjoyed by all and everyone was able to watch the small planes take off from the airfield. The group wished that they could climb aboard plane and be whisked away to somewhere nice!!
